First Step, First Innovation: December 25th, Eastern Mediterranean Basin (part 2 )
Around the same time lived a bishop named Nicholas in Lycia (on the southern coast of present-day Turkey): very little is known about Bishop Nicholas of Myra. His legendary participation in the Council of Nicaea, which established the Christian creed, is quite uncertain. However, his legend after his death, and the proximity of his feast day, December 6th, to the solstice, would later make Saint Nicholas an essential figure at the end of the year.
